This is a Community of Practice for NSW public sector employees working in Human Resources (HR). We share information and provide opportunities for professional development.

Our mission is to position the HR profession as a key contributor in delivering business outcomes. Our community is about more than sharing best practice and supporting one another. We have a strong focus on uplifting the profile of the HR profession in the NSW public sector. We do this by providing development opportunities and showcasing the value HR professionals bring to achieving business goals.

An Advisory Board has been established with representation from across the nine NSW Government Clusters. The Board sets our direction and priorities and promotes opportunities to grow capability.

Joining our community

The community provides opportunities to connect HR people from across the NSW Public Sector, in a forum where people can share ideas and experiences. Our members are invited to events to meet other HR professionals and hear from key speakers in the public and private sector talk on a range of HR topics. You will be invited to participate in programs that provide development opportunities to HR professionals working in the NSW public sector.

We host up to four events a year. Our 2022 events have covered a diverse range of topics, including personal wellbeing during challenging times, understanding design thinking and redesigning the employee experience.

Capability uplift for HR professionals

All NSW Government HR professionals can access the NSW Public Service Commission's The Spark: shaping a world class HR program.

The program is designed to equip HR leaders and practitioners to support the transformation of the workforce and deliver a world class public service. Content has been designed with strategic HR experts from inside and outside the public sector and focuses on three themes: smarter ways of working, people analytics, and the changing role of HR. 

The program includes podcasts, masterclasses and a cross-sector mentoring program.
